Indian Army has killed a terrorist in the ongoing Kupwara encounter, in Machil sector along the LoC.
Security Forces have launched a massive operation to nab the other militants in the area. The soldiers of 56 Rashtriya Rifles, who were manning the Line of Control (LoC) intercepted a militant group at Katwara forest area near Jet Gali on Tuesday. The force challenged the militants who then opened fire on the forces triggering off an encounter, reported India Today. One army jawan who got injured in the battle later lost life battling wounds.
Four others who were also injured in the incident are under treatment. “In the day-long gunfight yesterday, five soldiers sustained injuries and were airlifted to the army’s 92 base hospital for treatment,” the officer told India Today. “Soon after the gunfight broke out, additional reinforcement of para-troopers were rushed to the area to join the operation,” he added.
India Today reported that among those injured, Lakshman Das is in a critical condition after sustaining bullet injuries in his chest. Sniffer dogs and choppers have also been pressed into service to trace the remaining militants.
